MULTIPLE SENIOR POSITIONS - PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT

Exciting opportunities are now available within Gympie Regional Council’s Planning Strategy and Major Projects Branch.  Council is seeking candidates to join an emerging regional leader on the doorstep of Noosa and the Sunshine Coast. These unique employment opportunities will see the successful candidate join a small team of 6 working across an extremely diverse range of portfolios and projects. If successful you will have the opportunity to shape the future of the Region through strategic project delivery, land use and environmental planning policy improvements and facilitating positive development and public realm outcomes. These roles are critical in supporting Council to strive towards a liveable, prosperous, well designed and sustainable region for its 50,000 residents.

Council is looking to continue progress towards our Vision to be the “natural choice to live, work and play,” after delivering a series of state and nationally recognised projects, including;

  • the Smithfield Street Revitalisation Project (Urban Design category winner 2018 – Australian Institute of Landscape Architects),
  • the Gympie Town Centre Branding and Marketing Strategy (Public Engagement and Community Planning commendation – Planning Institute of Australia 2015), and
  • the Gympie Regional Council Planning Scheme (Best Planning Ideas commendation – Planning Institute of Australia 2013).

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITIES 

1. Co-Ordinator - Major Strategic Projects Program

Remuneration: Salary will be remunerated from $90,297 (dependent on experience) plus 13% superannuation

Reporting to the Manager - Planning Strategy and Major Projects, this new, innovative, creative and fast-paced Senior role will see the successful applicant manage an exciting program of international-class strategic planning, urban design, and streetscape revitalisation projects in the growing Gympie region.  You will be primarily responsible for coordinating and overseeing the execution of major strategic projects by;

  • Leading and coordinating the preparation and implementation of the program of projects;
  • Delivering effective community engagement processes to inform major strategic project development;
  • Ensuring the delivery of the program of projects is consistent with the endorsed design intent and vision; and
  • Coordinating the development of designs using internal resources.

2. Co-Ordinator - Projects (12 Month Maternity Leave Contract)

Remuneration: Salary range between $81,949 and $87,518 (dependent on experience) plus 13% superannuation

Reporting to the Co-ordinator - Major Strategic Projects Program this 12 month contract position will see you primarily responsible for the management and delivery of strategic planning, urban design, and streetscape revitalisation projects in the growing Gympie region by;

  • Managing the design phases of a range of exciting urban design projects associated with the Gympie Town Centre Revitalisation Strategy;
  • Supporting Council’s vision as a liveable, prosperous, well designed and sustainable region;
  • Providing design input to other Council projects as required; and
  • Applying sound project management principles and techniques to deliver all phases of the nominated projects to agreed timeframes, budgets and scopes.

Have a lasting impact on the Gympie region by contributing to a range of planned and funded major projects set for delivery in the coming years, and help shape a program of strategic future improvements in the public realm across the region.  Such projects may include:

3. Co-Ordinator - Planning Scheme Program

Remuneration: Salary range between $90,297 and $95,861 (dependent on experience) plus 13% superannuation

Reporting to the Manager - Planning Strategy and Major Projects, this Senior position will be responsible for leading and delivering the timely review of Council's Planning Scheme in line with legislative requirements, and contribute expert knowledge to land use planning policy that supports Council's vision of providing a liveable, prosperous, well designed and sustainable region that strengthens local communities drives responsible environmental management and protection of sensitive environments, and boosts our local economy by;

  • Leading and coordinating the preparation, enhancement, implementation and maintenance of Council’s strategic planning policy framework;
  • Managing major strategic planning projects contributing to the delivery of an endorsed annual work program;
  • Leading, coordinating and delivering effective community engagement processes to inform Planning Scheme review; and
  • Acting as the senior authority and provide expert advice on matters relating to Council’s Planning Scheme.

A candidate who is strong in relevant experience leading the preparation of Planning Scheme reviews and associated amendments, strategic planning policy, and providing expert technical advice on matters related to a local government planning framework will be perfect for this role.
